OK! The last post on my holiday to HK last Oct! So it isn’t exactly HK, but Macau which we visited as a day trip. A nice change from HK, I must say! The ferry terminal was near to our hotel so we got tickets for a early morning ferry the day before.
The seats on the ferry were nice and comfy and good enough for a morning nap before we started the day’s adventure!
First view of Macau!
We walked over to Fisherman’s Wharf, which is a themed attraction cum shopping centre. Guess we were there too early cos the shops and restaurants only open in the afternoon but it was a good opportunity to take photos!
Saw this really pretty Victorian hotel!
Then we got directions and took a bus to Senado Square. Honestly, we din do much planning for Macau and just found our way around along the way! Find this part of Macau having quite an European feel, just probably cos of the quaint buildings.
The first thing we did there was to try the Portuguese egg tarts! Yumm!!
After some more walking, I got attracted by this store that was playing music from the Korean drama, Boys over Flowers. I raved about this show before in a previous post, so you can imagine my excitement! I stood there taking picture after picture!
And it’s not all hype! The egg tart and pork bun was yummilicious! I couldn’t stop thinking about them when I got back to HK that evening! I even went to a so-called Macau restaurant the next day for breakfast and was so disappointed! Just couldn’t match up! You really must try when you are in Macau!!
Then it was time to continue our sightseeing! The most famous icon of Macau – St Paul’s Ruins.
The back of the ruins
View of Macau from the top of the ruins
When you are visiting the ruins, do check out a nice shop on the left of the steps leading up to the Ruins. It’s called Macau Creations and it’s a cool souvenir shop selling items featuring art of local artists. We bought a T-shirt, a mug and a post card which we posted back to ourselves on the spot. Worth a visit!
There were other attractions clearly indicated around the Ruins, thus we just explored the area.
Visited Lou Kau Mansion, the home of a Chinese businessman.
Macau really reminds me of Europe!
Then we took a bus, wanting to visit Guia Fortess and stumbled upon Dr Sun Yat-Sen’s Memorial House (more like we got lost)! His first wife resided there.
It is done up in Moorish style.
Ok, finally found the cable car up to the Guia Hill!
Then it’s a walk to the Fortress.
Awesome view of Macau from the top!
Last stop of the day – Venetian Casino!
Had our dinner at the food court!
The food tasted good!
And that marks the end of our little Macau adventure! And the last post for our HK trip! Hope you enjoyed all the posts! =)
