For my company’s D&D, I was roped in by my boss for the dance performance. In all honesty, I really wasn’t keen but my boss was in charge of the dance and she would be participating as well, so how could I say “No?” Anyways, then started two weeks of intense practices, most of the time ending around 10 plus in the evenings. At least, we had some practices at the 44th floor function room of The Sail! Awesome view!

I learnt a total of 3 dances, the most challenging one was the Britney one, set to the song “Baby Hit Me One More Time”. Really wished I could withdraw but had to grit my teeth and keep on going! It is especially tough for me cos I am not good at dancing at all! Felt so stressed! The last time I ever participated in a dance performance was for Easter 2000! It was a modern dance, almost like ballet and I knew from that experience that I am definitely not called to be a dancer!
So the two weeks flew past and it was time for the D&D! Reported early at 2pm on Saturday, had our rehearsals, did our hair and makeup and tried to enjoy the evening before it was show time!
My boss and me! She’s really enthusiastic about dancing!
The cute and jovial Pam! She wore an Indian sari!
The very young-at-heart Patsy! She still frequents St James and loves dancing! She styled her hair by herself!
My other dancing kakis!
The roses of my department!
I must say I was pleasantly surprised by my country head, who sang a song after his speech!
Soon, it was time for our first performance! A retro song set to Bee Gees “Staying Alive”.
It was quite a simple dance, the steps were easy so everything went smoothly! Next up, the Britney dance and a faster paced song set to Blacked Eyed Peas “Time of My Life”.
Made quite a few mistakes for the Britney dance cos I was so nervous!! Thankfully I recovered for the second part and then IT WAS ALL OVER! I really pray this will be my LAST TIME dancing! All in all, I must say it was a fun experience and it made the D&D a memorable one for sure! Now I can finally breathe a sigh of relief!

Hello -- FYI "Staying Alive" is by the Bee Gees [as in the Brothers Gibb] NOT ABBA for the film Saturday Night Fever released in Singapore in 1979.
I know what I'm talking about, I was in Pr 5 that year and my favourite tune from the soundtrack was "Too Much Heaven" also by the Bee Gees ;) Check it out if you don't believe me.
ABBA were a Swedish group who were very popular during that part of the decade too. Everyone's favourite group in my class.
I hope you'd get your facts right the next time :)
