There are fried chicken chains sprouting all round Singapore lately – good news for a fried chicken fan like me! Recently at Serangoon NEX, I saw a new brand called Broaster Chicken and was keen to try it out. Broaster Chicken is so named, more because of its method of cooking, than its brand name.
Broasting is a trademarked method of cooking chicken, which combines pressure cooking with deep drying, thus it is called pressure frying. It is supposed to produce chicken that is crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside. I’m glad to say that this method of cooking did produce chicken that lived up to its promise!
I quite enjoyed it as there was flavor throughout the whole chicken, even for the usually bland and dry breast meat. The mashed potato tasted very homemade and had a rich buttery taste. The coleslaw was so so. I think it is worth a try!
My rating: 3.5/5
