YongPyong Ski Resort [Korea]

Next stop: YongPyong Ski Resort. But, before that, hot pot! We had it at a restaurant which seemed pretty popular, even the ex-President visited it!

Then it was nap time as we journeyed our way to YongPyong.

Finally, we have reached! YongPyong was started in 1975 and is South Korea’s 1st ever modern ski resort!

Being off-peak season, we got rooms at the main Dragon Valley Hotel. Or else it’s gonna be like chalet rooms again!

We were quite pleased with the rooms and they were the best so far!

View from our rooms

Din have much time to settle down and it was time for a trip up to the peak of Mt Balwang on a gondola!

And up and away we go!

Now sit back, relax and enjoy the trip up!

Lots of beautiful trees…

And finally we reached the top called Dragon Peak.

Btw, if you are a K-drama fan, you would have realised that YongPyong Resort was the key setting for the Korean drama Winter Sonata! Even if you were not aware, the pictures of the main couple all round in the resort would have clued you in!

Here we are posing with a standee of the couple!

It’s pretty amazing how this drama still “lives on” despite it being first screened in 2002!

It was really cold and dry up there!

I really wonder what’s this fascination with building structures with rocks?

Group shots!

More exploration around the area…

And then further outfield…

Artistic shots ahead!

And finally we are back to the main building where we started..

More Winter Sonata…

On journey back down …

And finally we are back to the hotel and time for some shopping!

Did a little walk around the resort, only to see more Winter Sonata!

Headed out for hot pot dinner at the earlier restaurant and retired off to an early nite!
